Zac 8:23 “Thus says יהוה of hosts: ‘In those days ten men from every language of the nations shall grasp the sleeve of a Jewish man, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that YAH is with you.”’ ”
After reading the text I need to ask a few questions… “Why are the men from the “nations” wanting to go with the Jewish men and what are they hoping to hear?”
IF the “Law” has been done away with , as many religions and people say, and there is no reason to study and keep the “Old Testament”; what do you think the men of the nations will hear from those Jews? Who are these men from the “nations”?
The word “Nations” is translation from the Hebrew word גוי or gowy which refers to heathen or Gentiles usually of non-Hebrew people. So we have these non-Hebrew men wanting to go with and learn from the Hebrew man about their YAH, they want to be part of what is happening between YAH and His people. But Why??? Because “we have heard that YAH is with you”.
This leads me to believe that either YAH is not with them or they are lacking something the Hebrews, the Jews have that they don’t have in their relationship with YAH. What are they lacking, what are they missing, why is they relationship with YAH different then the Jews?
What do you think the “nations” will hear from the Hebrew men? Will it be replacement theology, or the Torah has been nailed to the cross, or Shabbat has been changed to Sunday or even the feasts and holydays the Hebrew’s celebrate have been done away with and replaced by Easter and Christmas… what do you think they will hear?
For a starter they will hear the EXACT SAME WORDS the Hebrews heard when YAH spoke to them at Mt. Sini…
“Hear, O Israel: יהוה our Elohim, יהוה is one! “You shall love יהוה your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. “You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. “You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. “You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
They will hear Tanakh, Torah; nothing more, nothing less, nothing else.
You see, YAH NEVER changes. The words He spoke from Mt. Sini are the same words He is still speaking today; The same Statutes, Ordinances, and Judgments; the same direction, and instructions still are very much alive and applicable for us today.
True, the word תורה or Torah in Hebrew, can mean law but it also means directions and instructions, which would have been a better translation. A person does not have to listen to or follow YAH’S directions and instructions… HE gave us all a free will to accept or reject His directions and instructions, to accept and acknowledge HIM as Elohim or not, we all have a free will to do so.
Our Creator, our Father in Heaven gave us His directions and instructions as how to love Him, How to serve Him, but instead of listening to HIM and following His directions and instructions , different peoples and religions have nails YAH’S word to a cross, replaced them with a new theology, a man made theology, leaving just enough of YAH’S directions and instructions in it to make then look like the real thing, when they are not.
That is why the men of the nations are following the Hebrews, that is what the men of the nations are missing in their relationship with YAH… His “Word”.
“Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.”
The law of יהוה is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of יהוה is sure, making wise the simple.
The statutes of יהוה are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of יהוה is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of יהוה is clean, enduring forever: the judgments of יהוה are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they then gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
YAH’S law / directions and instructions are PERFECT and if they are PERFECT why would they be done away; better yet when did YAH say He had done away with His directions and instructions that He said were eternal? When did they become imperfect that they needed to be done away with? How does something perfect become not perfect? How does a 100%, or an “A” on test become 50% and an “F”? How does a bowling score of 300, a perfect game become a 299 and not a perfect game and when does a hole I one become a triple bogie?
YAH’S word, His directions and instructions were perfect, are perfect and will always be perfect!
Tanakh is a love story between YAH and creation. If you are married, I am sure you know what makes your spouse happy; If you are in a relationship I am sure you know what makes your partner happy; I am sure in both cases you strive to do those thing that will show how much you love your spouse or partner.
So to with YAH, He told us what makes Him happy. Because He wants us to love Him because of who He is, He has given us the free will to love Him or not, the choice is up to each one of us; but know this…
“Thus says יהוה of hosts: ‘In those days ten men from every language of the nations shall grasp the sleeve of a Jewish man, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that YAH is with you.”’ ”
